I have decided to do a video blog entry (VLOG) instead of typing. Make sense to me… enjoy!

You really don’t know what people go through until you walk in their shoes, or in this case, right around in a wheelchair.  I am getting a lot more independent , which allows me to get out more.  I am thankful that my recovery from the broken leg is progressing very well, but I still need to be in a wheelchair when I am out and about.

We took our son , out for his 21st birthday dinner last night , and of course, I was wheelchair-bound.  It felt like 1000 eyes staring at me all the time. The worst part was that people were truly oblivious of me in the chair , and it was an obstacle course getting around people who really did not want to get away. I am not sure whether people are so busy these days that they really don’t see that they are blocking a path for wheelchair person, or really don’t care.

I choose to believe the people have so much on the plate and on their minds , that being courteous really isn’t in their vocabulary.  So now I really have a heartfelt compassion for people who are full-time in a wheelchair.  I don’t know how they do it.

I thought I would add a new picture of me in my rear yard lounging with the broken limb. Still can’t put pressure on the leg for 3 months but I am getting some mobility, thank the Lord. Getting bored of just laying around. Lots of time to reflect I guess and to delegate!

That’s right…I was on a getaway weekend with my wife and friends at Salt Spring Island and fell off a rented scooter and broke my left leg !

I now have my leg pinned and I am out of commission for least three months. Thank the Lord, I am set up at home in my home office and have all the technology, I need to continue in business.  The next step will be surgery and rehab.

I think I must to looked like a crash test dummy when I went flying over the handlebars. The good news is there is no other injuries and I will try post a picture for you.
