A Happy Christmas Season and Blessed 2017 New Year

A Very Happy Christmas Season to My Readers and a Blessed and Purposeful 2017

This has been a great year overall and seemed to fly by way too quickly. The addition of 2 new grandchildren this year was one of my many personal highlights.
Business was inconsistent and was tossed to and fro through the waves of a economic downturn as well as the slow recovery in the Resources market. Through it all, we managed to survive and diversify to keep ‘both oars in the water’.

Sometimes in life, we feel ‘adrift’ in a wide open ocean seeming to not have any direction or compass.  We row like crazy with no real progress. The key here, is that you were still rowing because you had the faith to believe it would eventually take you somewhere. It is when you stop taking action or stop rowing, is when you lose hope. I know this year in our business, we felt that moving forward, not knowing if we would even make any headway, kept our optimism alive regardless of the outcome.

For me personally, this has been a reflective year as well as a focused one. Reflection of how blessed I am as a husband, father and grandfather as well as a business person. Focus was on where I was in my life and where I wanted to go. How would next year look? Would it be the same as this year? What did I feel I needed still to accomplish in life? Was I where I needed to be?

Then I felt ‘the winds of change’ coming ( I have felt them numerous times before)  and knew God had a new compass bearing and direction for my business life. It is then I realized a new chapter needed to be written still.

Fast forward to today as I am writing this, and I am getting a more clear picture of the first paragraph of the new chapter.  An introduction sentence that starts with …”there is more to your true purpose in life”.  It is exciting to know there is still more for me to do that has not been written in my life history yet.

How about you? Was yours a good year or not so good year? Did you fulfill all you wanted to do? Did you make those life changes you promised yourself your would do? Did you get callouses on your hands from rowing aimlessly all year with no focus?  I promise you I can relate myself to those kind of years. If I can encourage you….my ‘compass’ and navigator has always been Jesus since I was 21 years old. He has always been there for me regardless of my circumstances, even the self inflicted ones where I ventured out off of the set road in life.

There is a true purpose and destiny to everyone’s life. May you find yours this Christmas and the coming new year.

If there is any way I can help you or you just want to drop me a note, I would be honoured to respond.

“For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end…” Isaiah 9:6-7
